The Beautifully Tragic "I Love You Bridge" in Sheffield

Beautifully tragic story for Valentine’s Day.

If you don’t know the story behind the “I love you bridge” in Sheffield that inspired the Yungblud song “I Love You Will You Marry Me,” it’s worth checking out.

The story of a young man proposing to his love via graffiti reading “Clare Middleton I love you will u marry me” on a council estate bridge only for them to be forcibly separated, before she sadly passed away. This message of love came to mean different things to different people and was later commercialised, Clare’s name left out and forgotten all for corporate financial gain while the writer was left homeless.
